Viber and Tango is Blocked in Bangladesh for security concerns


Internet calling and messaging services Viber and Tango have been blocked in Bangladesh by the Govenment for security issue.

Viber and Tango services  have been turned off from 5:00am on 18 January, 2015. According to the news papers, the services have been blocked upon requests from intelligence agencies.

The telecoms regulator initially plans to keep the services off until Sunday midnight, but that might extend if necessary.

Law-enforcing agencies earlier had said criminals were using services like Viber and Tango to communicate with each other.They added that,  phone calls can be tracked but it was not possible to track communications made through such applications.

The government has taken the decision for the sake of security only.
